University of Texas DallasStudents who complete a BA in Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication receive a thorough grounding in the mutually productive interaction of technology with the arts, with specific emphasis on the interplay of visual art, music and narrative with the new modes of expression and communication that have emerged from the convergence of computing and media technologies.
The Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology provides multiple creative labs that feature leading-edge technologies and high performance workstations. Students also have access to a games and media library that holds over 1,000 digital and analog games spanning multiple game platforms including both classics and new releases, and a 24-node, 288-core render farm used by game and animation students.
US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Creative-field applicants may be assessed through academic preparation, creative ability, visual thinking and, where required, a portfolio. The portfolio may include finished work as well as sketches, experimentation, process development and written explanations. Architecture may value Mathematics, Physics, drawing and spatial thinking, while Art, Design and Fashion programs may place greater emphasis on originality, technical development and the creative process.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school. Relevant APs can strengthen an application and may earn university credit, but are not compulsory unless the university or programme explicitly requires them.Essays & recommendations: Personal essays and teacher/counselor recommendations give context to your achievements and help demonstrate fit with the program.3-D computer animation
