Bath Spa UniversityThe PGCE year starts with an initial preparatory period which tackles the notion of the role of the teaching professional, with an emphasis on the Science practitioner. Through Professional Studies, and subject and pedagogical teaching modules, you'll begin to develop an understanding of the breadth of the role of the teacher as well as becoming familiar with the subject knowledge, skills, and pedagogies associated with your own particular subject.
In order to apply you'll need to have completed, or be in the final year of a UK degree (or equivalent qualification)You're required to have a good honours degree with at least 50% suitable science content for the route you're applying to do, which you should state clearly on your applicationYou'll also need GCSE passes at grade 4/C or above or recognised equivalents in English and MathsIf you don't have the required subject knowledge, you may be required to take a Subject Knowledge Enhancement courseApplicants are required to complete Enhanced DBS checkOverseas applicants or those who have lived overseas for more than six months in the last five years will also require a police certificate of good conduct from the relevant countryThe prohibition from teaching check is a requirement for all teaching staff in accordance with DfE guidanceApplicants are required to complete Childrens' Barred List checkFitness to Train to Teach questionnaire: This is a compulsory requirement for anyone undertaking teacher training and may take up to eight weeks to clearOnce your application has been received and assessed, and if it is successful in making it to the next stage of the application process, you'll be invited to attend an interview (these are currently held online)IELTS: 7.0 overall, with no less than 6.0 in each component, TOEFL iBT: 91 overall with minimums of 17 for Listening, 18 for Reading, 17 for Writing and 20 for Speaking For India: Normally a Second-Class honours degree with a minimum overall final grade of 55%For USA: A Bachelor's degree with honours and a final GPA of 2.7 or above from a recognised universityAstrophysicsMedical physicsMeteorologyMiningScientific instrumentationSynchrotron scienceVision sciences
