The two-year Adventure Recreation and Parks Technician program offers you a broad background in natural resource management, with quality instruction in three major areas of concentration: Parks, Adventure Recreation, and Travel & Ecotourism. Specialty courses in the parks field include Park Operations, Park Interpretation, and Park Protection.
High School Diploma and transcripts, Ontario Secondary School diploma with Grade 12 English (ENG4C) OR Mature Student Status (an applicant lacking the formal minimum admission requirements may be admitted through the mature student application process. Mature Student applicants may be referred to College Counselling for academic testing and a recommendation from the Counsellor to the Registrar for consideration in their admission. Mature applicants must still submit their high school transcriptsand may also be asked for a Resume. 79-80 for the Internet-based test (iBT) or IELTS score of 6.0 with no band lower than 5.5.
Graduates of the program are trained to work in the public and private sectors, including Parks Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, conservation authorities, municipal parks departments, and private park owners. Examples of employment found within these park agencies include Park Warden, Park Interpreter, Resource Technician, and Park Superintendent.
