The course is taught through a combination of technical acting classes, scene study and workshop performances, which are closed to the public with the exception of the final devised performance. Classes in acting, improvisation, movement, physical theatre, voice, singing, textual analysis and interpretation, Alexander Technique, historical dance and period studies, and stage combat form a core part of the course content. The course culminates in a collaboration with directors that allows students to explore the creation of a new piece of work, which they conceive, create and write through a process of research, improvisation and rehearsal.
The minimum entry age for this course is 18. There is no upper age limit. There are no academic requirements for this course. Admission is by audition. Applicants should be fluent English speakers. Non-native speakers do not need to provide an English language test report when they apply as they assess English at the auditions, however they will need to provide a valid IELTS test report with an overall score of seven if offered a place.
