The International Relations and Law BA (Hons) combines the study of global politics with legal frameworks, giving you a unique perspective on how the world works. Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Getting Started with Law and Global Politics

In your first year, you’ll build a solid foundation in both law and international relations. Modules like Introduction to International Relations will introduce you to the main theories and concepts of global politics, while Legal Systems gives you an understanding of how the English legal system works. You’ll also study Legal Skills, which focuses on research, analysis, and writing – essential tools for any future lawyer or policy maker.

Year 2: Diving Deeper

In year two, you’ll explore the subjects in more detail. International Law covers the rules that govern how countries interact, Comparative Politics looks at different political systems around the world, and Human Rights Law examines the legal protections for individuals and groups. This year is all about sharpening your analytical skills and applying theory to real-world issues.

Year 3: Specialisation and Independent Research

Your final year allows you to focus on what interests you most. Modules like International Conflict and Security explore global conflicts and their solutions, while International Trade Law looks at the legal side of global commerce. You’ll also complete a Dissertation, giving you the chance to research a topic you’re passionate about and show off your expertise.
