A combined major in Mechanical Engineering and Physics provides students with the opportunity to (1) design the world around them, using creativity, quantitative analysis and well-grounded principles and (2) pursue additional intellectual depth by understanding the natural phenomena and mathematical fundamentals on which those principles are based. A graduate of this major would address challenges and problems not only by applying a current toolset of knowledge, but by exploring the underpinnings of those tools, to develop next generation solutions
