The Master of Music (Jazz & Improvisation) is a research degree which prepares you for a career in contemporary music performance. The program seeks to develop graduates who have a capacity for defining and managing a major creative research project characterised by originality and independence. Jazz & Improvisation candidates present a live performance and submit a dissertation that together should investigate issues and questions that are core to contemporary music making. You are provided with training in research methods, contemporary artistic practice and theories of arts and culture while developing individual mastery in your field of practice. The program invites research applicants with projects relating to contemporary music performance individually or in an interdisciplinary way.
