The University of Melbourne is an Australian public research university which is located in Melbourne. It is Australia's second oldest university, and the oldest in Victoria, having been founded in 1853.

University of Melbourne History

 Hugh Childers, the Auditor-General and Finance Minister, proposed the University of Melbourne in his first Budget Speech on November 4, 1852, when he set aside £10,000 for the founding of a university. The university was incorporated on January 22, 1853, with the authority to provide degrees in the arts, medicine, law, and music. In 1855, classes began with three professors and sixteen students; just four of these students graduated.

The University of Melbourne's USP/achievements is that it claims to spend more on research than the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). With the largest cohort of research students in Australia, the university is a major Australian research university. More than 100 research institutes and centres are affiliated with the institution. The institution invested $813 million in research in 2010. University of Melbourne It has several campuses throughout Victoria, with its main campus in Parkville, an inner neighborhood north of Melbourne's central business area. The university's main campus is located in Parkville. Originally located north of Grattan Street in Parkville, the school has grown to encompass a wide area north of Grattan Street, with many of its newly purchased buildings located in the nearby suburb of Carlton. To reconfigure campuses, the institution is embarking on a "ambitious infrastructure program." 1. Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarships

The International undergraduate Scholarships were established by the University of Melbourne in recognition of the numerous contribution created by international students to the variety of the University’s student population.

Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines

To be thought of for a fee remission scholarship you must:

• Be a national of a country apart from Australia and New Zealand and not a permanent resident of Australia;

• Have received an unconditional offer for an undergraduate course;

• Have achieved glorious final year college results, such as:

– A minimum of four A* grades within the GCE A Levels

– A minimum of 97 in an approved Foundation program

– A minimum of a score of 43 within the International Baccalaureate (IB)

• Not have previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as a part of a year 12 program).

2. University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships

Set up by the University of Melbourne, this scholarship is open to high achieving domestic and international pupils undertaking a Master by research degree or Doctoral degree.

Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines

To be chosen for this scholarship, one needs to have applied for and meet the entry requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne or be presently enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
