Program Overview

The Languages Education specialisation is the only course of its kind offered in South Australia. It enables students to gain broad perspectives in the field of languages education, and allows in-depth exploration of its theory and practice. It is expected that students will have completed at least 2 years of university study in a second language prior to taking this specialisation. Students will have the opportunity to critically examine recent literature, engage in debate and reflection, and develop and apply in-depth knowledge of areas such as: curriculum, pedagogy and assessment policies and practices designed to improve languages learning outcomes and student/client wellbeing; a variety of educational research methods and their application; local and global social, cultural, political and economic perspectives and practices associated with the education of children, young people and adults in the field of languages education; methods for fostering interdisciplinary and intercultural partnerships and working collaboratively.
