Master of Engineering Materials

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

Flinders University

Program Overview

Materials represents an important component of many technological products and the engineering of materials connects to a variety of research areas including nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical sciences, electrical engineering and civil engineering. The Masters program provides a broad extension to a student's undergraduate study focusing on the selection, production and behaviour of practical materials used in engineered products. Materials engineers also look closely at materials failue - fracture, corrosion, wear - destructive and non-destructive testing, and are generally interested in solid materials as they are primarily the materials used for manufacture. Materials engineering involves whole-of-life considerations, including recycling, and generally involves using materials in bulk.
