Program Overview

The Master of Biotechnology is designed for graduate or professional scientists who wish to extend their skills and knowledge in clinical and environmental microbiology, bioinformatics, protein science, molecular biology and genomics and apply these in a competitive commercial environment. It is also suited to scientists aiming to become business or research managers and entrepreneurs in biotechnology, with applications in clinical, agriculture, food and the environment. The program can be completed in 1 to 2 years full-time depending on prior qualifications and relevant experience.

Curriculum Structure: Students complete 160 credit points. Core courses include Molecular Advanced Biotechnology, Advanced Protein Engineering, Advanced Applied Bioinformatics, Commercialising and Launching Innovative Ventures, Research Design and Methods, Strategies for Effective Science Communication, Law and Synthetic Biology, and Entrepreneurial Leadership. Duration pathways allow completion in 1 year (with prior learning credit), 1.5 years or 2 years full-time.
