Program Overview

The Master of Public Policy at The University of Western Australia is a postgraduate program designed to develop multidisciplinary knowledge and practical skills in public policy, public administration, governance, economics and law. The program examines how government interacts with the economy, law and society and prepares students to respond strategically to complex public, economic and social issues.

Curriculum Structure:

Year 1: Covers the core Public Policy Program through Economics of Public Policy, Intersections of Law, Policy and Governance, and The Politics of Public Policy. Students also begin their chosen specialisation in Economics, Public Administration and Governance, or Law.

Year 2: Builds specialised knowledge through further study in the chosen specialisation, with options to undertake a second specialisation, Work Integrated Learning or a dissertation pathway for eligible students. Public Administration and Governance students can study areas including public administration, public sector leadership, regulation and governance, NGOs and governance, international governance, human rights and Indigenous policy.
