Master in Geography

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

Catholic University of Louvain

Program Overview

The organization of the space in which we live results from the action of man on his natural environment. It is the result of a multitude of decisions taken in the distant past or near, that have shaped our environment by adapting it to our needs for better and for worse. These decisions have stimulated development as they have created imbalances: more productive world agriculture, industrial concentration, urbanization, trade at all scales, increased average welfare, but also relocations, pollution, land degradation, deforestation, erosion of biodiversity or climate change. Geography studies the mechanisms that led to these effects, to better control them.
