The proposition of the Graduate Program in Letters with two areas of concentration: Literary Studies and Linguistic Studies - is guided by two basic guidelines the need to train qualified professionals for university teaching in Literature, due to the demand for higher education institutions in the region of influence of the Federal University of Vi osa, as well as the need to improve the staff of elementary and high school ; the need to contribute to the advancement and consolidation of existing research groups in the Department of Letters at UFV, to which research projects, scientific productions and guidance of teachers are linked.
