Federal University of Vicosa History
The Federal University of Vicosa also known as UFV is a federal Brazilian university located in the city of Vicosa, Minas Gerias. The university was founded in 1922 as Higher College of Agriculture and Veterinary Science eventually renamed as Rural University of Minas Gerias. The university adopted its present name in1969.

The Federal University of Vicosa initially used to conduct courses exclusively in Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. The university today offers over 47 different undergraduate programs in subjects like engineering, medicine, animal husbandry in addition to Agriculture and Veterinary related programs.
The Federal University of Vicosa also offers 36 postgraduate programs and 24 doctoral level programs through its Graduate School in wide variety of subjects.

The Federal University of Vicosa has its primary campus located in the city of Vicosa, Brazil. Secondary campuses are located in Florestal and Rio Paranaiba. The university has several libraries in addition to the central library with a total area of the 12,816-metre square. The library offers 1500 study spaces, video conferencing rooms, halls for exhibitions, auditorium, and a huge collection of books, periodicals, journals, collection of rare works, bibliographic surveys, and special collections.
The Federal University of Vicosa offers various sports and recreational facilities to its students such as green areas, sports courts, gymnasium, swimming pool, auditoriums for theatre, dance, and events, restaurants, and a cafeteria.

The Federal University of Vicosa is regarded as one of the most prestigious universities in Brazil. The university is ranked 6th best university of the country by Brazilian Ministry of Education based on the National Student Performance Exam (ENADE or Exame Nacional de Desempenho dos Estudantes).
The Federal University of Vicosa was ranked 2nd in Brazil for its Agriculture and Veterinary programs by the Education Ministry of Brazil. The survey ranks the university 1st in the state of Minas Gerais.
Federal University of Vicosa USP
The Federal University of Vicosa is one of the few universities in Brazil to establish exchange programs with US States of Florida and Georgia. The exchange programs with the University of Florida and the University of Georgia allows the students to get a taste of new culture as well as develop research and development capabilities.
The Federal University of Vicosa also has an exchange program with the Netherlands called Living Lab Bio-based Brazil to develop student’s knowledge of applied sciences. The university has a high acceptance rate and the tuition fee is affordable.
