This Course initially worked at the Instituto Materno Infantil de Pernambuco and, although focused on the training of teachers and researchers, it had a curricular matrix with a lato sensu course profile, similar to what occurred with other graduate programs that emerged in that decade. This curricular structure has been reformulated over the years, in order to adapt to the regional needs for training human resources aimed at teaching and scientific research in the pediatric area.
