Program Overview

The MA in Music Theory exposes students to a wide range of recent and past scholarship in music theory. Students receive advanced training in music analysis, critical approaches to music-theoretical scholarship, and writing. The course content in Theory of Music ranges from classical musicology, music history, the bibliography of great artists and musicians, music education, analysis and interpretation. The Masters programme is more technically based, common subjects are analysis, stylistic composition, performance practice and editing.

A Bachelor of Music in Music Theory or its equivalent (including courses in harmony and analysis of tonal and post-tonal works), Submission of recent work in analysis,TOEFL ibT of 86 with no individual score below 20, IELTS of 6 out of 9, MELAB of 80 , CAEL of 60, Western English Language Centre- successful completion of the High-Advanced level, CultureWorks- successful completion of the High-Advanced level, Fanshawe College s ESL Program- graduation from Level 5, Advanced Academic Preparation, with a minimum 80% in all components
