MA in Literatures of Modernity

1 Year On Campus Masters Program

Ryerson University

Program Overview

The MA program complements studies in literature and scholarly research with skills training and experience in technology, publishing, and diverse forms of writing. Many of our students go on to complete a PhD, and have been accepted into doctoral programs in English and Comparative Literature across Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. while others have entered professional programs such as teacher s college, library studies, and business school. Our graduates have also gone on to careers with literary presses, magazines, agencies, literary and cultural organizations, schools, research archives, and libraries. MA students develop enhanced skills in communication and critical thinking that have proven highly useful in many professions. In addition, our program fosters a rich understanding of ourselves as engaged, responsible citizens in our society and in the world. These qualities have helped those of our students who have chosen to pursue further education or to work in the private sector.
