Ryerson University, History

Ryerson University was established in 1948 as the Ryerson Institute of Technology. In 1964, the institution was reorganized under provincial legislation and renamed Ryerson Polytechnical Institution. In 2002, the university adopted the name Ryerson University.

Ryerson University's central campus primarily lies within the Garden District of downtown Toronto. Most of the campus is designated as a mixed-use institutional area, although portions of the campus are situated in areas zoned for commercial and residential use. Kerr Hall is the campus heart. Applicants educated outside of Ontario must submit documents equivalent to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six Grade 12 university level (U) or university/college level (M) courses.
