Program Overview

The MA program in French and Francophone Intercultural Studies is designed for students interested in literature, language, translation, linguistics, terminology, applied linguistics, gender and cultural studies, and the history of ideas. The program covers French, Quebec, French-Canadian and postcolonial French literatures. For French-Canadian studies, collaboration with the Institut fran ais, the Department of History, Women's Studies and the Canadian Plains Research Centre (CPRC) and other units makes possible linguistic and cultural studies of French communities in Western Canada. Members of the department have varied research interests, including special topics in French literature of the Middle Ages to the twenty-first century, and in Quebec, French-Canadian and postcolonial French literatures, as well as literary criticism, gender and cultural studies, the history of ideas, linguistics, applied linguistics, terminology and translation.
