Program Overview

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultural Studies provides graduate training towards a Master s degree in French literature, translation or language studies. Areas of strength include theory and criticism, French (seventeenth to twentieth centuries), Qu b cois and Francophone literatures, women s writing and gender studies, the cinema of France, Qu bec and North Africa, as well as translation and language studies.

Additional Information & Requirements

A four-year honours (B.S.A., B.Sc.) degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (U of S grade system equivalent) in the last two years of study (e.g. 60 credit units), A writing sample of your undergraduate academic work in French such as an essay or similar document in your area of research interest of 5-8 pages, A statement of intent (1-2 pages) stipulating research interests and identifying a proposed thesis topic or area of research, Preliminary statement of marks, Official copies of transcripts, Resume, Three references, TOEFL Scores: Overall scores of 86 with minimum scores of 19 in each area, IELTS scores: Overall score of 6.5 with no score below 6.0 in each area, PTE scores: Overall score of 63 with minimum scores of 59 in each area
