University Of Saskatchewan

University Of Saskatchewan was founded on March 19, 1907. It is a Canadian public research university, located on the east side of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Initially, the university began as an agricultural college. 

University History

In 1907, on 19 March, University of Saskatchewan was founded. Saskatoon was selected as the site for the university on April 7, 1909, by the board of governors. On October 12, 1912, the first building was opened for student admission. In 1912, the university awarded its first degrees. Duncan P. McColl was appointed as the first registrar, Chief Justice Edward L. Wetmore was the first chancellor. Walter Charles Murray became the first president of the university's board of governors. On February 15, 2001, the University of Saskatchewan's Arms were registered with the Canadian Heraldic Authority.\

University infrastructure & services

Campus-

University of Saskatchewan’s campus is located near South Saskatchewan River, across from the city center of Saskatoon. David Robertson Brown of Brown & Vallance were the architects of the campus and the first university buildings in Collegiate Gothic style. On July 29, 1910, the Prime Minister of Canada, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, led the first building, the College Building. The first building on the campus is the College Building and was declared as a National Historic Site of Canada. The original buildings on- campus were built using native limestone – greystone – which mined just north of campus. With time, the greystone became one of the most recognizable campus signatures. 

Libraries-

 University Of Saskatchewan campus consists of libraries, which plays an important part of the educational experience and an invaluable resource for students, faculty, staff, and alumni, but also for the broader community. There are various libraries available on-campus- Education and Music Library, Law Library, Leslie and Irene Dubé Health Sciences Library, Murray Library and Science Library. Initial Study Permit

All University of Saskatchewan students need to have legal status in Canada, and you will need to present your status documents to get your student card. If this is your first time applying for a study permit, you can do it at the nearest Canadian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission. You can apply for your permit as soon as you receive your Offer of Admission from the University of Toronto and decide to accept. Because the permit legally entitles you to study in Canada, you will need it before you enter the country.

Temporary Resident Visa

Students from certain countries may also require an entry visa, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), to enter Canada. TRVs are issued by Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC).

CIC’s requirements may differ depending on your specific geographic region. For instance, some CIC offices require proof of English language proficiency in the form of a standardized test (such as TOEFL or IELTS). A medical examination and proof of funding may also be required.
