Program Overview

This program offers a multidisciplinary training to better understand Antiquity and the present. The seminars and the writing of the dissertation will allow you to acquire a flexible and contemporary research method while perfecting your knowledge of ancient languages. The purpose of this program is to introduce you to personal research, research and interpretation methods, as well as the composition of a methodical, objective and precise study. In addition to tailor-made training, you can join various research groups and participate in several major projects related to Greek, Roman and Eastern Antiquity. A bidiplomant pathway in classical studies is also offered in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg. Focusing on interdisciplinarity, this program integrates ancient Christianity, patristics, gnosis, Manichaeism and ancient philosophy into the traditional sectors of ancient studies. Laval University is the only institution in North America that offers complete master's and doctoral programs in ancient studies in French.
