Physics is one of the oldest natural sciences dedicated to the study of how the universe works. It explains the fundamental mechanisms of the other sciences, underpins the technologies that are the focus of engineering and opens up new areas of research. The department offers programs in both physics and astronomy leading to MSc and PhD degrees. They have a vibrant core faculty of 30 researchers covering the areas of astronomy, condensed matter physics, medical physics, atmospheric physics and planetary science.
