MS Geophysical Sciences

The Master's Program provides a solid training in theoretical and applied aspects in Geophysics,training its graduates for a high-level professional performance in activities where this knowledge is relevant. Likewise,this Program provides adequate training for people interested in pursuing an academic career in research and undergraduate teaching in Earth Sciences,and accessing advantageously Doctorate Programs at university centers of excellence.Since 1990,the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile offers the Master of Science Program,Geophysical Mention,being the only center that fulfills this mission at the national level,covering the areas of specialization in seismology and physics of solid earth.From a professional point of view,this Program enables graduates to participate creatively in the evaluation and quantitative solution of problems related to earthquakes,seismic risk,seismotectonics,prospecting of natural resources (mining,oil,water),study of geological structures at the regional,geothermal,land use and environment.
