2 Years On Campus Masters Program

University of Chile

Program Overview

The Master's Program in Community Psychology is of a mixed nature and its general purpose is to provide studies in the corpus of key knowledge of Community Psychology, the community approach and research and action methodologies. The mixed nature of the program includes constitutive properties of Community Psychology, namely, that it is born in the light of practice and that the knowledge produced within it is oriented to inform, directly or indirectly, the action. In this framework, the programmatic proposal of the Master provides tools to observe it,learn from it,understand it and produce knowledge to guide and improve the management processes and implementation of action strategies aimed at achieving greater social equity, inclusion and quality of life. of people and communities. It should be noted that the mixed nature of the program does not lie in the existence of two components that are unrelated to each other, one academic (theoretical) and the other professional (practical),but rather in the proposal of a unified programmatic matrix that articulates,in an integrated manner, both components. In accordance with this, the program is taught in the afternoon,in order to grant the possibility of taking the Master's Degree to those applicants who work in jobs related to the area, allowing them,in turn, the possibility of converting their field work in a place of immediate application of the knowledge acquired in the program.
