Masters in Czech philology

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

Palacky University

Program Overview

The follow-up master's course in Czech philology deepens the knowledge of the Czech language and literature acquired at the bachelor's degree, but allows greater variability according to the student's own professional interest. The student acquires a basic knowledge base within the compulsory disciplines and further develops it through optional modules, specialized in a more specifically defined area (synchronic and diachronic linguistics, older and newer Czech literature, editing). Module studies take place mainly in the form of seminars, which ensure an individual approach to students, develop their ability to think critically and apply the acquired knowledge to specific phenomena. The state final exam is also designed with an emphasis on independent work. For those interested in studying for teacher qualification, the department also provides teaching of Czech language and literature didactics.
