Program Overview

The course is intended primarily for graduates of the bachelor's degree in French philology. It takes place in parallel in the field of linguistics and literary studies, and at the same time the knowledge and skills in the field of translation and interpreting, the basics of which the student acquired in the bachelor's degree, are systematically deepened. In the field of linguistics, emphasis is placed on the lexicological language plan and the issue of the language policy of francophone countries, in the field of literary studies, students acquire knowledge of older and contemporary French literature. As part of the specialization, students have the opportunity to attend courses aimed at developing communicative competence, deepening their knowledge of translation and interpretation methodology, improve the ability to choose appropriate strategies for translating texts or communications into the target language and deepen knowledge of Czech-French socio-cultural and political relations. Students have the opportunity to complete a translation or interpretation internship in a cultural, scientific, business or political institution in France or other French-speaking countries.
