Masters in Community care in midwifery

2 Years NA Masters Program

University of Ostrava

Program Overview

The Master's study field Community Care in Midwifery will enable graduates to implement care for pregnant women, postpartum women and physiological newborns using critical thinking, an interdisciplinary and systemic approach, professional communication and therapeutic intervention. Midwives working in the community are specialists in the care and problems of women during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and their babies. They also care for gynecologically ill women in the community. The complex care of midwives in the home environment in the community immediately follows on from hospital care and cannot be adequately replaced by another healthcare worker. The theoretical preparation deepens the knowledge from the scientific fields completed in the study to obtain the professional qualification of a midwife and provides new theoretical knowledge from the fields needed for the care of women and newborns, their families and the relevant communities. Practical training enables the improvement of existing skills and abilities.
