Program Overview

The knowledge pillar of this program includes theory and practice in the field of international relations with an emphasis on the security field. It introduces the audience to the development of the international system of states and the role of revolutions and political violence in its formation. The knowledge pillar further presents methods, theories and techniques for solving national (civil, ethnic) conflicts, which are an integral part of the contemporary world, often with significant security implications for the wider region. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in the functioning of peacekeeping operations, peace negotiations, international mediation and other conflict resolution tools. Special emphasis is placed on transatlantic security relations and cooperation.
