The S mi language is taught at the Giellagas Institute, which was established at the University of Oulu in 2001. The subject includes the lines of North Sami, Inari S mi and Skolt S mi. The Giellagas Institute has the national responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Culture to organize and promote the highest level teaching and research in the S mi language and culture in Finland.
