Program Overview

S mi culture is taught at the Giellagas Institute of the Faculty of Humanities. The subject focuses on information and research on S mi society and culture, but society and culture are viewed in a broader perspective from other northern cultures and indigenous peoples. The S mi culture and the S mi language are linked to the historical, social and legal context of the Nordic countries. Other indigenous peoples are united by similar historical phases, social and social conditions, and a claim to traditional rights.
