University of Poitiers

Program Overview

The Master 2 course in Social Assistance and Action Law and Local Authorities allows you to understand one of the major public policies mainly supported by local authorities: social policy.Mobilizing significant resources at the national level, there are many actors in social aid and action. Local authorities are major players both in the implementation of social assistance (compulsory, legal and regulatory assistance) and in determining social action (optional assistance, with a strong territorial dimension). The departments, but also the municipalities or inter-municipal structures, as well as on certain points the regions, lead social actions with multiple partners (Family allowance funds, social and medico-social establishments, associations, mutual societies ...) and are at the origin of the territorial structuring of social policies.
