Program Overview
"The course ""Modern and contemporary worlds: research, transmission and dissemination of history"" offers training in and through research to students who intend to prepare for a doctorate, jobs related to research or the dissemination of knowledge of history, and competitions for the territorial or national civil service (in particular the Capes and the aggregation). Backed by the resources and work sites of Criham (EA 4270), it aims to acquire a solid modern and contemporary historical culture, openness to the world and the codes of research (production of research thesis, reports of reading, initiation to scientific writing and the organization of scientific meetings, digital humanities), and more generally the assimilation of knowledge and know-how of the survey (collection of documents, analysis, synthesis and restitution) and high writing skills. International mobility is possible. In the second year, students can, if they wish, prepare for the history aggregation by validating the teaching of the DU Agr gation. Throughout these two years, the teacher-researchers in modern and contemporary history strive to carefully supervise each student, and promote, through seminars and workshops, innovative, active and collective forms of work, in tune with the living challenges of the discipline, at the crossroads of fundamental research and social demand.
