Modern cultural studies research analyzes the social and cultural life of the general population in a problem-oriented manner. The focus is on questions of cultural contact, cultural comparison, cultural exchange and cultural mediation from a historical and contemporary perspective. The role of the media is increasingly coming to the fore in the constitution of cultural identities within the framework of the modernization and globalization process.
