Program Overview

The curriculum-related study of astronomy can be studied as a supplementary subject in the scope of the Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree. The extension tray can be started parallel to the two main subjects in their 3rd semester.The students get to know the basic questions of classical physics and astronomy. They master the basic methods of work and cognition of astronomy and cosmology and possess the ability to physically interpret astronomical and cosmological phenomena. They can communicate them in the appropriate jargon and are able to present astronomical facts in a generally understandable way, since they have basic physical and didactic knowledge, which enables them to plan pupil-oriented instruction.

Additional Information & Requirements

Applicants who have completed their undergraduate degree: A certificate stating that the applicant has successfully completed a first university degree or a certificate (or equivalent documents) providing evidence of the successful completion of at least the year prior to his/her final examination in the equivalent studies (with a minimum of 120 ECTS credits) and a complete transcript of records, who have not yet completed their undergraduate degree are required to hand in a complete transcript including a calculated average grade. Applicants who have an average grade below 2,5 (German grading system) need to submit a statement from their examination office that they may still obtain a first university degree with a final grade of 2,5 or higher, Letter of motivation, CV in tabular format in English or German, Certificate equivalent to the German Abitur certificate (i.e. A-level certificate) qualifying for university admission, The events are taught in German. For the study of literature good English skills are expected. Knowledge of German in the amount of DSH-2 (Testdaf4) is required for foreign students.
