Program Overview

English/British Studies at the University of Regensburg encompasses the entire breadth of the literatures and cultures of the United Kingdom, Ireland and the English-speaking world with the exception of North America from the Middle Ages to the present day. It deals with textual as well as visual, material, performative and virtual representations and interpretations of the cultures it deals with and, above all, with the methods of literary and cultural studies, linguistics, media studies and gender studies. In the context of both the history of the British Empire and globalization, postcolonial texts and theoretical approaches as well as intercultural issues are of particular importance.

Additional Information & Requirements

University degree, Bachelors degree in the respective course, Evidence of English language skills must be provided that corresponds to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference CEFR, Applicants who did not acquire their first degree or university entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution must demonstrate basic knowledge of the German language by the end of the first year of study at the latest, proof must be provided through language courses basic courses totaling at least 120 hours of instruction, General higher education entrance qualification, subject-related higher education entrance qualification or professional qualification, School-leaving certificate including transcript of grades, Certificate of University entrance exam, Certificate of studies transcript of records, degree, Copy of passport /identity card, Curriculum Vitae in tabular form primarily academic records Proof of German proficiency: can apply directly for a degree course if you provide proof a German level of at least B2, Exception: Applicants for Medicine, Dentistry and Molecular Medicine must prove German at at least level C1, International applicants who do not have direct entrance to higher education in Germany because their previous school and study achievements are not considered equivalent to the German Abitur can prepare specifically for their studies at the Studienkolleg
