2 Years On Campus Masters Program

University of Rostock

Program Overview

The objective of the Masters degree in Ancient Studies is to develop a sophisticated picture of Greek and Roman culture in the context of other cultures in antiquity. The course is based on the analysis of written and material artefacts, of which only fragments often remain. Greek and Roman culture have a long reception history from the Middle Ages to the present. The course therefore not only looks at antiquity itself, but also its reception, to serve both as an historical education and as a means of critically assessing The own standpoint as Europeans in the 21st century. The Masters degree gives students the opportunity to undertake independent academic study in their selected area of specialization - Ancient History, Ancient Greek, Classical Archeology, Latin or Prehistory & Early History.
