University of Regensburg

Program Overview

The master's program in Greek philology aims to provide an in-depth, comprehensive overview of Greek literature ie literature written in ancient Greek from the beginnings to late antiquity. The focus of the course is on the intensive linguistic and content-related recording of selected works of Greek prose and poetry and - in the form of the writing of the master's thesis - on the research-related application of literary methods for their interpretation. The culture of antiquity should also be recorded in its historical dimension and its afterlife e.g. drama, rhetoric, mythology, fine arts, music that is still effective today.
