Program Overview

In the summer semester 2019, the FernUniversit t in Hagen started the new master's course "Newer German Literature in a Media-Cultural Context". The still young course imparts knowledge, concepts and methods of 'classical' literary studies (literary history, rhetoric, aesthetics, poetics, genre theory, analysis, interpretation) within a cultural and media studies expanded canon of objects and methods (poetology of knowledge, narratology, intermediality, performativity, gender). In its historical dimension, the focus is primarily on literature since the Enlightenment era. However, it is not a primarily literary-historical master's degree; the focus is rather on a problem-oriented approach, in which historical knowledge is also placed in the context of observation and analysis of current media culture.

Must have completed a higher education degree which is comparable to the required German degree, School leaving certificate or other qualification which is comparable to the German Abitur, officially certified copies, show proof of health insurance coverage at enrollment, TestDaF: language exam with a score of at least level 3 on all four sections of the exam, DSH short for Deutsche Sprachpr fung f r den Hochschulzugang or German Language Exam for University Entrance language exam with a score of at least level 1, Passing score on the German section of the final exam of a German Studienkolleg, or preparatory course, Goethe-Zertifikat C1 or C2 exam
