Program Overview

The aim of the course is to impart cultural, regional and linguistic competence for the Oriens Christianus. The students should be able to work independently with sources in Christian-Oriental languages (Syrian, Armenian, Christian Arabic: in conjunction with Greek). In addition, there is an intensive study of intellectual and literary history as well as the general history of the corresponding area. The Master's partial course imparts the methods and basic content that enable the historical and systematic understanding of problems and fields of knowledge in various areas and epochs of the Christian Orient.
