Speech science deals with specific aspects of speaking, listening and understanding. It is an empirical-theoretical and at the same time application-oriented discipline with the sub-disciplines of linguistic phonetics, rhetorical communication, artistic communication, disorders of the speaking and hearing processes (speech, speech and voice disorders) and speech formation. Numerous teaching and research priorities reflect the contents of several linguistic and linguistic-related fields of work, examples of which are the areas of communication disorders, intercultural, media and tele-communication.
