Program Overview

The research-oriented consecutive master's program in Islamic Studies provides you with in-depth knowledge of the normative religious source texts of Islam and their interpretations, the history of Islamic religion, culture and ideas from early Islam to the present, as well as the diverse manifestations and patterns of interpretation of Islam in contemporary Muslim communities and societies . In addition to historical and cultural education, central themes are current discussions about Muslims and Islam in Europe, Islamic movements and forms of political Islam. Another focus are current developments in Turkey.
