The El Ni o phenomenon is one of the most famous natural events on our planet. The South American Pacific warms up every four years on average at Christmas time. The consequences: fish deaths, hurricanes and precipitation, which cause the coastal areas to be flooded, threatening the very existence of the population. The effects can still be felt in distant areas. The explanation of this phenomenon lies in the interaction between the ocean and the atmosphere.
