Classical archeology sees itself as a historically and art historically oriented, interdisciplinary cultural science. It deals with the material legacy of all areas of life in Greek and Roman antiquity, from the 2nd millennium BC to late Christian antiquity. Numerous peripheral and neighboring cultures are also included, insofar as they had a cultural relationship with ancient Greece or Rome. The subject of the subject is the roots of European or oriental art and culture, which are constantly being invoked and reinterpreted at different times in Western Europe but also in the Islamic Orient, and the critical transmission of their cultural memory.

Degree based on at least three years of study, which must be equivalent to the BA degree at the University of Regensburg, at a university with at least the grade 'good' or - with a lower grade average successful passing of an aptitude test, Latinum and Graecum, Required language certificates Latinum and Graecum must be proven before registering for the master's thesis, Proof of university entrance qualification, Proof of a first degree based on at least three years of study, which must be equivalent to the BA degree at the University of Regensburg, at a university in a subject related to the desired subject with at least the grade 'good', certified proof of previous examinations must be submitted. Proof of suitability and motivation for the degree program, Proof of Latinum and Graecum, Applicants whose mother tongue is NOT German must also prove German language skills at the level of the German language test for university admission for foreign applicants DSH or an equivalent German test
