Program Overview

Classical archeology is a historical cultural science whose subject area is the cultures of Greek and Roman antiquity. The geographical scope covers Greece, Asia Minor and Italy, but is in principle open, since Greeks and Romans in the different epochs were in close exchange with different neighboring Mediterranean cultures. The time limits are from the advanced civilizations of the Bronze Age (2nd Millennium BC, Cycladic, Minoan and Mycenaean cultures of the Aegean) and the Etruscan-Italian cultures of the Apennine peninsula on the one hand and the end of the Roman Empire and late antiquity (4./5 Century n. Chr.) On the other hand determined.
