MA in French Literature and Cultural Contacts or Lettres modernes

The integrated master s program French Literature and Cultural Contacts / Lettres modernes of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the Universit de Bourgogne, France, provides students with the opportunity to intensively study French literature and cultural studies with a special focus on cultural contacts. Particular attention is paid to contacts with other European (especially Romance and Germanic) cultures and cultures outside of Europe (francophone literature and its interperiphere relations as well as contacts with hispanophone and lusophone cultural areas). The first year of study emphasizes the methodical expertise and aims at extending and deepening the students knowledge of their major subject French with a special focus on literature. The students are also obliged to participate in a certain number of courses in the field of linguistics and cultural studies.
