The epoch of the Enlightenment saw the emergence of the concepts and cultural patterns of modernity that still characterize the present and its debates about the future of the Western social model in a globalized world. In the 18th century, the dissolution of the traditional orders of action, belief and knowledge opened up new freedoms for human understanding and shaping of the world: a complex and quite conflict-laden process of transformation of the religious and the rational began, which to this day has lost nothing of its social topicality and relevance has lost.
