In the 21st century, classic topics in economics are gaining new significance, with the upturn in developing countries in Asia, globalization and demographic change. Complex interactions of factors such as scarcity of resources, the role of currencies as well as the relationship between the family, the market and the state are examined and explained in the economics degree course. An interest in new economic drivers as well as the classical theories also plays a role, in order to develop statements about the intervention of economic policy in the free play of market forces.
