Program Overview

The program consists of three types of modules: 1) regional science modules consisting of seminars on politics and society in Greater China, Japan and Korea; 2) social science modules, within which lectures and seminars provide the analytical tools for dealing with the target regions; 3) subject-specific modules in which the specialist language of Chinese, Japanese or Korean is spoken and written. The study thus provides a comprehensive overview of political and social developments in Japan, Korea and Greater China; the investigation of social and intra-regional conflict fields; the analysis of regionalization and integration trends in East Asia; systematic training in dealing with Japanese

Additional Information & Requirements

Applicant should have general university entrance qualification (Abitur), a bachelor's degree in Chinese Studies or Japanese Studies or Korean Studies with a minor in Social Sciences, or a Bachelor's Degree in a social science subject (see Foreign Language Requirements).Certified copy of diploma certificate, Certified copy of list of certificates, Letter of motivation, CV in tabular format in English or German, Good knowledge of modern Chinese (HSK level 3) or Japanese (JLPT level 2) or Korean is required. Good English skills are also expected as much of the literature is written in this language
